Just call me "munch munch"

Last night we trucked on down to the Whole Foods at Tenley to meet with the Tri Team's nutritionist. I gotta say, I'm a fan of all the info this group has to offer.

Always the one worried to be late, I got there WAY too earlier. I took the time to take a lap around the joint. They have such beautiful stuff. As I looped past the wine and bakery I was pretty sure this would not be part of the tour.

Overall, I thought the presentation was very informative. No surprise, everyone (in their own way) has been watching their weight. How can't you! I have nightmares of looking like a very unattractive sausage springing out of the Potomac and waddling around the city.

Trouble is, dieting sorta doesn't work when you're launching into this kind of training. To be honest, I've been kinda hungry recently --- and especially when I was at the end of my half-marathon training.

Who knew I was starving myself?! Ok, let's be for-real. I clearly wasn't starving. I likely was not as healthy as I could have been given all the other stuff I was doing.

Now, back to the class. We learned about the right balance of foods and how critical your before and after workout meals are. Of course, everyone knows that...but does everyone practice it? It was helpful to hear about a bunch of good examples.  On my way out I picked up a couple bottles of the tart cherry juice they were talking about.  It actually is really good.  I cut it --- half water and half juice --- b/c it's a bit strong.  Cherries may become my new best friends.

I for one am happy to be told to actually eat. I wanted to hug the nutritionist and say "where have you been all my life???" Granted, I'm sure she wasn't talking about chip-wiches, Doritos and Diet Cokes...not that any of those things ever find their way into my grocery cart...at least recently...recently meaning the last 72 hours.

Happy shopping.
