Urban Running

Today was the first day running at my new home site in Adams Morgan, courtesy of Fleet Feet. I ran out of this area once last season and definitely preferred the routes around Georgetown.  Unfortunately, the Georgetown location is only available for those training for the marathon this Spring. Bummer.  Hopefully, over the next few months my opinion will change.

This change also means that I change coaches. Nothing wrong with a little variety, just hope it's as good of an experience.

Since I wasn't as familiar with parking in Adams Morgan on Saturday mornings, I started out early...and of course...got there WAY to early. Oh well...early is always better than late.

After lots of preliminary information from the coaches we headed out for a 6 mile up-and-back through Rock Creek Park, to the Kennedy Center and back.

It was a good run. Still getting used to the cold and more importantly working to try and keep the pace slower. It's such a hard thing to pull the reigns back, but I know that's the key to the Saturday long run.

The hills in Rock Creek and around Adams Morgan are incredible! They definitely break your spirit --- especially since you climb them at the end of your run.

I've made a goal to conquer these urban hills by the end of this program.  They better watch out...I WILL own them by Spring-time.
