I arrived to an open menu --- I could do whatever program I wanted. I decided to concentrate on core and upper body since I have to run tomorrow. As usual, folks like to push the limits with me. Wowzers...I got my ass kicked tonight. Lots of variations on planks tonight --- on forearms, on hands, on the push up bar, elevated one hand with dumbbell rows, and the dreaded two laps of bear-crawls. My arms were literally shaking by the end. It's a miracle that I was able to carry my work bag to the car.
As always, I immediately forgot how bad it all was the moment I walked out the door.
The most bizarre thing about this running thing is that without really focusing on it, I started dropping weight or more likely just started toning up. This is going to sound odd, but other folks really noticed before I did. The trainers at the gym today were quite surprised by the difference. I guess that's what happens when you don't come in as often!
The funny thing is that I never got into running to drop weight. That would have been a depressing reason to start...more like a job vs fun. I really just wanted to see if I could run 10-miles and then got a bit hooked to try and run more. In some ways, it's all similar to the days back in college when I got back into swimming and swam close to five days a week before class for a year. It gets a bit addictive and the positive health results are just an extra plus.
