Me Time

[View from my park bench.]
I think that most Washingtonians can agree on one thing --- we all have a tendency to take advantage of our lovely city. We don't mean to, but it's easy enough to say, "oh, we'll do that another time."

In contrast, hordes of tourists regularly descend on our city visiting the sights, taking in an exhibit and snapping pictures of everything they encounter.

So, when my lunch date fell through I picked up a sandwich and walked the three blocks to Lafayette Park. I grabbed a shaded park bench and enjoyed a quiet lunch while I watched the world go by.

The Park is great for people watching --- govt-clubbers, interns, tourists, bikers, runners, skate boarders, protesters and little kids meeting their working parents for lunch on the lawn.

On a day like this, Washington is almost perfect.
