DC really is biker friendly

There was an article on MSN this morning about 10 US cities that are considered biker friendly.

Drum roll please...and number 10 was Washington, DC!

I can see that. The city, in particular former Mayor Fenty, really pushed to add bike lanes throughout the city, brought major events to the city (running, cycling and triathlons) and the rental bike/share program has really taken off. I can't tell you how many red rental bikes I see regularly cruising around town --- and there's even a rental stand in front of my office!

Here's a picture from my ride yesterday. When I left Hains Point I cruised up to check out the new Pennsylvania Ave bike lanes --- and let me tell you that they are very cool. Wide open and well marked. There are even traffic lights for the bike lane.

Good job DC!
