I'm surprised my time was this fast since I stopped on my way into the transition area to use the port-a-potty.
As I saw the dismount sign I chickened out from getting out of my biking shoes the way I had practiced. I was supposed to slip out of my shoes as I was riding, ride with my feet on top of my shoes and dismount on socks. The crowds lining the streets freaked me out and I feared a major screw up. Instead, I unclipped my shoes and ran with my bike shoes on. Though it was safe, it was slow and uncomfortable. Live and learn.
As I ran into the transition area, I took a pit stop at the port-a-potties, which was a welcome relief.
I racked my bike, took off my bike gear and started mentally preparing for the run.
I put on my running shoes, visor and race belt. I learned from the Miami half-marathon to always have water. I carried a bottle out of transition that I could toss at the Mile 1 Aid Station. Smart Girl!
