"Suck it up!"

I was lucky enough to get "The Sergeant" tonight at the gym. He is so good, but muscle failure and no rest are his favorite tools.

Starting out with 5 minutes on the rowing machine and a wall-sit should have been the signal that this was going to be one of his classic "feel the pain / this is good for you" workouts.

As is his tactic, we moved around quickly and hit a little bit of everything. He's so good about preparing each set in advance so we cruise from place to place. There is definitely no slacking off in his world.

We finished up with a heart pounding set of 2 minute step-ups on the big box, a set of modified uni-bridges and a crescendo of ab work. The final wall-sit was an extra bonus.

I'm not exactly sure why we always thank The Sergeant afterwards. I'm convinced we somehow forget the stress of the last 45 minutes once we hit the water station or we willingly accept his motto --- "suck it up...this is good for you!"

What's that line from that movie..."Thank you sir...may I have another?"
