6 miles and some change...done!
I headed out with the 11-12 minute milers this morning on the Custis Trail that runs along Route 66. Everyone did great...even though the route out was a tough ascent. No rest for the weary...the hills start before you even hit the one mile mark.
I remember how challenging this route was last year when I first ran it and was hoping that folks wouldn't be discouraged by the hills. I've learned that hills are good. In the moment I may curse that mantra...but nevertheless...it's true.
After the run, I treated myself to some new kicks --- a beautiful pair of Mizunos. I planned to get another pair of my old reliable Brooks Trance 9's, but after trying on a few pairs I finally decided on the Mizunos. They are SUPER comfy. Ahhh, I feel springy again! Hopefully I'll think the same thing after my first run in them.
Funny story about picking out my shoes. One of the pairs that Wilson from Georgetown Running Company pulled were a pair of super comfy Pumas. The trouble was that they were grey, fushia and pink. I like pink as much (or maybe more) than the next girl, but these were PINK. Even though the color should not matter, I just couldn't commit to the SUPER PINK shoes. I felt like they should have glitter on them too. I thought it would be hard to seem tough in the SUPER PINK kicks!
