When I saw how tore up my forearm, knee, leg and hand was after the bike accident we did a little research on how best to care for these wounds.
First, we learned that hydrogen peroxide may not be as good of a friend as we assumed. Apparently it can be harsher on your skin when used regularly. Second, I used tubes of neosporin to keep everything clean and drying up.
Third and most importantly, I used these cool "second-skin-like" bandages that keep everything tightly covered, but also allow the wounds to breath. They are called Tegaderm...and they are AMAZING.
Lots of rave reviews from cyclists on The Tour who said it was great for road rash and other gashes.
After 10 days, my wounds look fantastic!
