Why is it that when you know what you're supposed to do sometimes you just don't do it? And friends...I'm here to tell you there's a price to pushing it too far. Meet Pain and his friend Exhaustion.
After the ortho said on Friday that I should work on being in my sling less over the coming weeks I don't think he imagined I'd spend the next 48 hrs working out, going to tailgates and partying it up.
On Saturday I found myself: doing a Glut workout on the elliptical machine, a pilates core workout and I went to the Terp/Mountaineers game w/o my sling.
By the 4th quarter I was in pain and dead tired. Obviously the day was too long and contained too much activity. My main issue was that life w/o my sling meant that folks kept banging into my arm (OUCH!) and I ended up not being as careful about what I was doing --- like holding a drink and attempting my feeble clapping. I actually think my lame clapping was my downfall. Too strenuous.
As a result, when I got home I popped some pain meds, whimpered my way to bed and crashed.
On Sunday we had every intention of chilling and getting organized for the work week, BUT at 9am we got a call that two SKINs tickets were available. We quickly got ready and headed to the tailgate.
The good news, this time I wore my sling, a couple beers took the edge off and I was very careful with excessive celebration.
I'm still worn out, but at least I was able to get out-and-about this weekend.
Here's to being more responsible, so that I heal properly and quickly.
